Signalling Deeper Reach, Bank Verification Number Rises to 68.6M

Nigeria’s Bank Verification Number (BVN) database expanded to 68.6 million in March 2026, reinforcing the steady deepening of the country’s financial identity architecture as the system transitions from rapid expansion to a more measured phase of consolidation. Latest data from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System showed that the BVN registry grew by 754,128 in the first quarter of the year, translating to a 1.1 per cent increase from the 67.8 million recorded at the end of 2025.
